Welcome to Paul Duke STEM Formula 24 Racing Team

At Paul Duke, our motto is be trail blazers and make the path for new and creative ideas. That's exactly what we're doing and our goal is to expand the path of success and build something special for Paul Duke f24 racing. As of now, we're officially the only f24 Racing team in the Gwinnett County School Systems but with future success we hope to change that. We hope that through expansion and scouting we can create a situation where schools in our county will began to create racing teams themselves and possibly have a Gwinnett County High School Racing League. As a team we know we're the start of something big!

GREENPOWER USA F24 (GRADES 6 - 12)

For middle and high school students completing the F24 build, the foundational skills learned through the Goblin program are built upon with the introduction of functional system changes such as tire composition and pressure, gear ratio changes, drive systems, weight reduction, and motor control.

In the process of implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of these changes, students learn that they must work together for their team to be successful. This concept is reinforced as the students begin to shift from teacher direction to student direction with teacher support and oversight.

About Our Car

We are using a slightly modified stock car kit. The body of the car consists of corrugated plastic wrapped with navy blue vinyl. Mechanically, we modified the steering into a Formula 3 style wheel. Electrically, we have experimented with motor controllers but we are going back to the original stock system for this race. We have modified the activation button but for the most part this is a stock car.

Body Design

We decided that the cleanest and most accessible system for body panels would be to have velcro tape attached to each panel. This system allows us to easily remove and reattach panels when we need to access the inside. Along with that, we decided to add air ducts on both back panels to allow better engine cooling.

Performance Enhancements

The main performance enhancement we made to our vehicle was changing our gear ratio from 6:1 to 4.5:1. We knew if we lowered this, the car would be able to go faster but it would drain the battery faster. This particular enhancement will change in the future depending on the different types of tracks but for experimental purposes this is what we have it set to now.
